“This place is connected to Maria’s flower shop so it was wonderful to smell the fresh flowers! Very comfortable bed and very clean bathroom (even though it’s the size of a closet). We only stayed one night but if I were to come back, I’d stay more so we could explore Kingston more. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, relaxing spot.”

“Maria is just lovely! Her warmth and charm are apparent even in her texts. We were visiting our daughter at Bard college and the room was ideal! First of all it’s enormous! It has everything you can think of toaster, microwave, mini fridge, coffee pot, iron, hairdryer, fireplace heater, tv, ceiling fan. More like a hotel than an Airbnb. Parking in front was convenient. She checked in with us by text to make sure we had everything. The ceilings are high and there is a leather futon so we set up a movie projector and watched a film on the wall with the kids. This place is really great. Will definitely come back!”

“Maria is a wonderful host and goes above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your visit. Both the accommodations and the locale are ideal and make for lovely get away! From the historical background of the firehouse to the charming town that is footsteps away this is definitely a lot of bang for the buck!! My stay was brief and my needs are minimal, but I would definitely return for a respite from my city life.”

“Had the most amazing 24 hours in Kingston and it all started with a stay at Maria’s firehouse suite. Maria was kind and always a text away. Everything was clean and as described. Parking was easy and the town itself is very easy to get around. Wonderful record shops and great restaurants/ brunch spots – We will absolutely be back and plan on staying here again!”

Maria’s place is flat-out amazing. First floor, private entrance, literally everything you need for a super stay. Walking distance to the Rondout waterfront district (go meet Josie at Redstart Coffee), and easy to get a Lyft to the Uptown shopping neighborhood. Maria gives a ton of information about the town and all it offers, as well as some neat info about the historic firehouse you’ll be staying in. Definitely give this place a shot — you won’t be disappointed.

“A great alternative to over-spending on a room in nearby hotels or bed & breakfast spots in the Hudson Valley. I recently visited the area for a wedding and staying here provided the convenience I was looking for – quick access to many other small towns in the area. Maria is a fantastic host and will set your mind at ease from the beginning of the process with her prompt communication.”

“Maria was very nice and I enjoyed my stay. Great place just like the photos! I loved the walk to the river and great restaurants! My plans changed and I had to leave early but luckily for me the cancellation policy was flexible. It was my first experience with Airbnb and will use it again! Thank you!”

“WOW! This was on our bucket list and we did it! It was easy to book, Maria is right on with answering any questions and Mary Ann greeted us with welcoming arms as Maria had to be out of town on the day we arrived. Both were so hospitable and saw to each need we had, right down to perfect suggestions for food and the area attractions. All that would have been enough, but this was on our bucket list. My husband is a retired firefighter and slept in the firehouse he worked out of for 1/3 of our married lives. I never got to experience that part of his life. Now, we both were able to stay in a restored firehouse that was simply breathtaking. The bed was the comfiest, the fireplace was cozy, the parking and location were easy peasy, and just across the street the best little restaurant in Kingston – Armadillos! We were amazed at the rehabbing of the old into a new, artistic studio, everything was so tasteful and pleasing. Privacy yet we felt as tho we were part of a community while staying our short visit in Kingston. Great place.”

“The listing as as pictured. It was warm and cozy, and Maria was very welcoming and easy to communicate with. The location is great and within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and bars in the the Rondout–West Strand Historic District.”

“The Firehouse Inn, hosted by Maria Dijk, is a pleasant studio space near all the attractions of the Rondout section of Kingston, NY. Maria couldn’t have been more welcoming, and the suite she provides was well-stocked with coffee, teas, fruit juices and other beverages. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious, and the appliances and flat-screen tv easy to operate. Two small shortcomings: there is no kitchen sink so you need to wash dishes in the nearby “compact” bathroom sink, and if you have any mobility issues you should note that there is a very short flight of angled stairs that take you from the sleeping area to the bathroom. But these are minor drawbacks and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Maria and the Firehouse Inn.”
